Published more than 40 papers in local (KSA),
regional (Gulf) and international (USA, France, Germany, UK, Japan)
peer reviewed medical journals and conference proceedings.
First author in a chapter in the book" Occupational Medicine in
Industrializing Countries' edited by Joseph LaDou, Hanley & Belfus,
Inc, USA, 2002. Co-editor of the translation to Arabic of the book
'Primary Health Care 2000" and translator of a chapter in that book
.Edited a number of books on behalf of local and international
agencies (General Organization for Technical and Vocational
Training, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; King Saud University, Riyadh; and
Dilmun Publishing Ltd., Nicosia, Cyprus).
Contributions to scientific conferences & symposia.
Attended more than 40 Scientific Conferences and
Symposia locally (Saudi Arabia, Sudan), regionally (Sultanate of
Oman, Bahrain), and internationally (Egypt, Finland, France, Japan,
Singapore, Sweden), either as a guest speaker or participant with
research papers.
Other Scientific achievements
Was the principle investigator of a research group
(seven investigators including the principle investigator) set up by
the Principle Committee to investigate the probable adverse health
effects of the gaseous emissions coming off Saudi Arabian Fertilizer
Company (SAFCO) on the population living in the surrounding areas,
Dammam. The research was a house- to- house survey in greater Dammam
area employing a random sampling technique involving 883 adults and
children. The final report was submitted to the concerned high
authority in the Government of The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Teaching activities
Have extensive teaching experience at both
undergraduate and graduate levels for medical students while working
at the University of Khartoum, Sudan, Faculty of Medicine, and King
Faisal University, College of Medicine, Saudi Arabia. Teaching
activities included courses on environmental health, Occupational
health, and control of communicable disease.
Outlined the environmental Health course for the
undergraduate students of the Parallel Program, College of Medicine,
King Faisal University, Dammam, 2006. This is a problem-based course
that starts with a statement followed by triggers and discussion.
Teaching activities outside KFU
Conducted several training courses for the employees
of different industries on Occupational and Environmental Health and
Safety both in Sudan and Saudi Arabia. Training courses included
areas of Health, Safety and Environment: HSE; First Aid, Safety
Leadership, Risk assessment, Ergonomics, Industrial Hygiene and loss
prevention, and other courses.
Conducted a training course on "Principles of
Environmental Health” to the students of the Bureau of Civil
Administration, Dammam, Saudi Arabia.1983. This was a 16-contact
hour course.

1. Erasmus Summer Program. Erasmus University,
Rotterdam, the Netherlands. August 16 to Sep. 3, 1993. A total of
six courses were attended. These focused on: Study design, methods
of clinical research, advanced statistical methods, and research in
general practice.
2. Seventh Advanced International Course on
Epidemiological Study Design. Organized by the Nordic Institute for
Advanced Training in Occupational Health, Riihimaki, Finland. August
17 to 28, 1992. The course focused on advanced methods of
collection, analysis and interpretation of scientific data. The
instructor was an eminent professor of epidemiology from McGill
University, Montreal, Canada.
3. Third Annual Course in the Principle and Practice
of Genetic Toxicology. The University of Texas Medical Branch,
Galveston, USA. Oct. 22-27, 1978. Two weeks field visits to EPA, and
the genetic toxicology laboratories at Washington, D.C., Research
Triangle Park, and others followed this. This was sponsored by the
Associated Universities, Washington, USA.
4. Cardio-thoracic Institute, Brompton Hospital,
University of London, UK. From Jan. 6 to Feb 21st. 1975.
The course focused on the diagnosis and management of pulmonary
diseases (scholarship from the British Council).

WHO assignment.
The
WHO, Geneva, in 1989, to join a group of investigators to discuss
