Workshop
Workplace
Health Promotion
May 28, 2009;
Kuwait
As chronic diseases are on
the rise globally employers are faced with
an increasingly unfit workforce. The future
workforce will likely be obese with diabetes
and / or heart problems and mentally ill. At
the same time, in line with the growing
economic success of countries occupational
hazards are being kept in check through
better technologies and methodologies.
Therefore, the burden of individual health
risk factors has become much larger than
occupational risk factors. This has also
caused employers to take a close look at how
the health status of their employees is
affecting performance und ultimately company
productivity.
The workshop will highlight a
step-by-step approach to systematically
enhancing the health of employees and
proving the concurrent increase in
productivity. Special emphasis will be
placed on the integration of occupational
health services, disease management and
well-being programs as well as designing
sustainable programs with measurable
results. A practical approach will be taken
during the workshop in order to provide
participants with concrete ideas and
specific tools which can be applied in their
workplaces.
Overall
goal:
Discuss root causes behind
moving from traditional occupational health
(OH) to health and performance management (HPM);
define steps of making the business case for
HPM; reveal key elements of an integrated
HPM strategy; identify specific measurement
tools (including a live demo of a globally
used instrument); and learn how to create a
sustainable program with measurable results.
Target
Audience:
Physicians and nurses
providing health care services, as well as
health planners and educators, managers, and
safety personnel.
